General Glossary

Here’s a quick list of Platform-exclusive words that might be present in the site. They might be explained in more detail on other pages, but it’s convenient to have them all here.

  • 04 / Ani / The Animate – The life god of Quattora, Marriesm, Novamea, and Rimea.
  • 40 / Ihn / The Inanimate – The death god of Quattora, Marriesm, Novamea, and Rimea.
  • Auto – Short for automobile. Essentially, a car.
  • Bludmar Abbey – A Marreist northern city. Small but powerful.
  • Bludmar’s Abbot – The bureaucratic leader of Marreism.
  • The Caldera / Strelk Pit – A large volcano-like structure in the heart of the desert that’s filled with carbon dioxide and sulfuric fumes.
  • Cardinal Marie – The religious leader of Marriesm.
  • Cirq – The most common currency on the Platform. Can occur as coins or as orange bank notes.
  • Death Warding – A Rimean ceremony done at birth (or conversion to the religion) to help ensure long life that involves the Sehen streaking their blood across people’s foreheads.
  • Desert – Beyond the idea of the climate, a large desert that takes up most of the western Platform.
  • Desertborn / Desertfodder – The name for the children who are born in the desert with no explanation. The latter term is derogatory.
  • Dump – A western city in the heart of the desert.
  • East Click The east half of the northern Click cities.
  • Eu / Nonmagicer – Someone who lacks magic.
  • Far East The narrow strip of largely unexplored land on the eastern edge of the Platform.
  • Flying Machine – A plane. Very new, high-tech technology that few have access to.
  • Human A common namish species found all over.
  • Kartasehen – The religious leader of Novamea.
  • Kangie – An extinct weasel-like odderan species that were born with pyrogenesis.
  • Magic – A symbiotic life form that lives in people’s lungs and gives them powers, ranging from fantastical to useless. Named using words that end in “-esis”, so if you see that suffix the thing in question is usually a magic.
  • Magicer – Someone who has magic.
  • Marie – A Marriest priest.
  • Marriesm A religion common in the west. A newer form of Quattora.
  • Masker – A bloblike, odderan species that could change their psychical shape. Made extinct in the Masker War.
  • Nam / Namish An upright individual or species with two legs, two arms, and an overall human body shape. A general term.
  • Novamea A religion common in the northeast. Created by conservative Rimeans against the Marriest-Rimean agreement.
  • Ocean – The ocean in the east of the Platform. Despite the fact that it touches the edges of the world, it doesn’t drain into the void.
  • Ocun – A Rimean priest.
  • Odder A species or individual that isn’t namish and lacks a human body shape. Usually desertborn.
  • Pennie – A birdlike, namish species mostly found in the southeast.
  • The Platform – The world.
  • Quattora – An ancient religion that has been mostly overwritten by Marreism. Was common in the west.
  • Rett – A city in the southeast. Isolated and mostly populated by pennies.
  • Rex – The leader of Rett. Almost exclusively female.
  • Rimea – A religion mostly found in the east.
  • Sehen The magic-bearing, religious leader of Rimea. Normally, there are two.
  • Sophont – A sentient being — essentially, a fancy term for a person. A wide variety of sophonts exist on the Platform.
  • Somber A religious city in the east, in the Sombian woods.
  • Stark A monochrome, humanlike namish species found mostly in the east.
  • Strelk – A reptilian namish species found in the Strelk pit.
  • Teak – A mining colony built in the ocean that grew into a city on the water.
  • Terragorn – Animals similar to a llama or horse, but with sharp tusks, a horn in the middle of their foreheads, and the temperament of a large dog. Common work animals and pets in rural areas.
  • Trells – A farming city in the south.
  • Unism A religion most common in Rett.
  • Verval – A lush city in the southwest.
  • Vira-Teakala / Veeta – An eastern port city.
  • Void – The endless expanse of clouds around the edges of the Platform.
  • Warping When someone’s appearance begins to change because of their magic’s influence.
  • West Click – The west half of the northern Click cities.
